Instructions for Authors

Before submitting the full papers, the submitting author must register as a user of the ConfTool.

Step-by-step instructions for registration
  1. Click or copy-paste https://www.conftool.com/iced13/ into the address bar in your internet browser.
  2. New users must click “Register new” and fill the mandatory fields (marked with *) in the subsequent page,
    to register themselves. If you are a Design Society member please enter your Membership number in “Member ID”.
    Existing users can use their existing login (username or email)
    and password to login into the ConfTool.
  3. After registering, you will receive an email confirming your user registration.
    Do not forget to validate your ConfTool account by clicking or copy-pasting the web address,
    in the confirmation email, into the address bar of your internet browser.
  4. After validating the user account, please enter your login (username or email address)
    and password to login into the ConfTool.
  5. On the “Overview” page, click the link “Show User Account Details” and verify all the information
    which you entered into the ConfTool system.
  6. For editing any information, click the link “Edit Show User Account Details” in the “Overview” page
    and modify the information.

The following points have to be remembered while preparing the full paper(s) and checked before uploading:

  • All the full papers should describe original research and should not be published elsewhere.
  • All the papers must be written in English only.
  • The cover page for the paper, containing the title, names of authors, author affiliations and abstract
    will be produced automatically from the date entered in the ConfTool conference management system
    and therefore, your paper should commence with the Introduction section.
    The maximum page limit for each paper is 10, including the cover page.
    Make sure that the total number of pages is even
    (for example, 6, 8 or 10 - so the paper you upload should have an odd number of pages, say 5, 7 or 9).
  • The ConfTool accepts full paper submissions in PDF format only.
    Final paper upload, after review and any requested revisions, should be in DOC/DOCX format as well as PDF.
  • All the full papers should conform to the instructions specified in the paper template.

  • For more instructions on formatting your paper, please refer to the paper template.
    Any full paper submission that does not conform to the specifications
    in the template will be returned to the author(s) for correction.
  • Please note that the deadline for the full paper submission is January 10, 2013 (midnight CET).
Step-by-step instructions for uploading your full paper(s)
  1. Click or copy-paste https://www.conftool.com/iced13/ into the address bar of your internet browser.
  2. On the “Overview” page, click the link “Your Submissions”
  3. On “Your Submissions” page, click “Full Paper Submission”.
  4. In the “Create new submission” page, fill the mandatory (marked with *) details for all the authors.
  5. In the “Submission Details”, enter the “Title of Contribution” and “Abstract”.
    Note that it is not acceptable to use italic or bold characters in the Abstract.
  6. From the list of topics shown, select the topics that best describe your paper.
    For each submission, the author(s) should select a minimum of one topic.
  7. A maximum of 5 keywords should be used for each submission.
    From the list of <keywords> given in Keyword, the author(s) should select upto 3 keywords.
    The authors can choose 2 further keywords of their own.
  8. Note that the author details, title of contribution, abstract, topics and keywords
    that you enter will be used exactly “as is” for:
    the automatically generated cover page (first page) of your paper and the abstract booklet.
    Therefore, it is very important that they are entered correctly and in full.
  9. Click “Proceed” to continue with your submission.
  10. Verify the information entered in the previous steps 4-7.
    If you wish to modify them, click on “Return to Step 1” and edit the information.
    (please do NOT click the “back” link on your internet browser if you wish to edit any information).
    If you wish to save the information and upload your submission later,
    click “Save Submission, Upload File(s) Later”.
  11. If you wish to upload your submission now, click “Choose File” and upload.
    Please note that PDF is the required format and the file size should not exceed 10 MB.
    Please note that these submissions are for peer reviewing, but the final submission will require submission
    in both DOC/DOCX and PDF formats. Please read the above bulleted points for preparing the full paper.
  12. Click “Upload File(s) and Complete Submission”, to complete your submission.
  13. During the final paper upload after review, the authors will be asked to accept
    the Design Society Copyright and Licencing Agreement.
  14. Repeat the above Steps 2-13, if you have more submission(s).
Step-by-step instructions for uploading your camera-ready paper(s)

Submission of camera-ready final full paper

Follow the instructions below to upload the camera-ready final submission:

  1. Login to ConfTool (https://www.conftool.com/iced13/).
  2. In the “Overview” page, click “Your submissions”.
  3. Click “Final Upload”, to upload the camera-ready final submission.
  4. Note that at this stage, the final submission has to be in two formats: PDF and DOC or DOCX.
  5. If you wish to change any information related to the title of the paper, authors, affiliations,
    abstracts or keywords, please click “Edit Contribution Details” after Step 2.

Submission of Copyrights

Please note that for your paper to be included in the conference proceedings, submission of
copyrights form is mandatory. The following steps will guide you to submit the copyrights form:

  1. Login to ConfTool (https://www.conftool.com/iced13/).
  2. In the “Overview” page, click “Your submissions”.
  3. Click “Electronic Copyright Form”.
  4. Enter the name of “Signing Author or Authorized Person” and the “Date of signing”, and submit the copyrights form.
  5. After, the submission of copyrights form, an email is sent to all the co-authors informing that
    you on behalf of all the co-authors will comply with the copyrights agreement.
Important dates:
  • Submission of full papers: January 10, 2013 (midnight CET)
  • Intimation of reviews via email: March 24, 2013
  • Submission of camera-ready full paper: May 15, 2013 (midnight CET)
  • Early & Author registration: June 20, 2013 (midnight CET)
  • Conference: August 19-22, 2013
